Donald Trump is currently picking cabinet members, and its is scary. In Jeff Sessions, a Republican senator from Alabama, we have an accused racist. He is now Trump’s pick for Attorney General, a position which demands impartial judgement, as the head of the Department of Justice. Next, we move on to the Department of Housing and Urban Development, with Ben Carson as Trump’s pick as SECHUD. This in of itself brings up thoughts of racism. I mean, a black man with no experience in housing and/or urban development is chosen to head that department? Really? We then head to the Labor Department, where Trump’s pick for Secretary of Labor is Andrew F. Puzder, a millionaire and vocal opponent of a higher minimum wage and new overtime rules. Isn’t it the job of the Labor Secretary to uphold the rights of workers? For the Department of the Interior, we have a potential pick of Mary Fallin, who would expand fracking and drilling, in a department which is tasked with the protection and conservation of federal lands. I do not like these picks at all, and they leave me scared for the future of America.
The Case for the Recount, according to Trump.
As you probably already know, there is a recount happening in several key battleground states, states with enough electoral votes to swing the election. Surely Donald Trump must be shaking in Trump tower. He very well may be. Trump promptly went on a Twitter rant, saying the he “would have won the popular vote if you deduct the millions of people who voted illegally”. If this is truly the case, then a recount would be a great idea for Donald Trump. The thing is, he doesn’t care about the rules as long they benefit him. For example, on November 6, 2012, he called the electoral college a “Disaster for democracy”. This in of its self, is true, but that’s a story of another time. The story of now is how Trump now calls the electoral college “genius” despite allowing Hillary Clinton to lose the election with the largest margin of popular vote victory in 140 years. Of course, we all remember when Donald Trump said the election was rigged if he lost. Now that he has won, he does not believe that the election is rigged. Convenient, isn’t it? Strangely enough, he just made his own case for the recount. If Trump thinks the popular vote was rigged, shouldn’t he file for a recount? He says there was voter fraud in 2 battleground states, Virgina and New Hampshire, along with blue state California. Well first of all, he just said that Clinton should accept the election results, despite his claim of them being rigged. This made me step back and say “What?”First of all, it does not make any sense for Clinton to rig Californa, the most liberal states in the union. Secondly, if he feels that way, the recount needs to happen.
